Iran defeated Taiwan B in the 2010 William Jones Cup basketball tournament and won the championship on Monday.
Despite playing without the team's giant center Hamed Haddadi, who is with the Memphis Grizzlies' Vegas Summer League team in the U.S., and injured Hamed Afagh, the two-time defending champions of Asia beat Taiwan University All-Stars 97-65 and claimed the title.
Iran had already defeated the Philippines, Japan, Lebanon and Australia in the tournament. The international tournament brought together a total of eight teams.
Iran is preparing itself for the 2010 FIBA World Championship which will be hosted by Turkey from August 28 to September 12, 2010.
