Japan's ambassador in Tehran has said that his country is ready to build earthquake-proof nuclear reactors in Iran. Ambassador Akio Shirota made the remarks in a meeting with Alaeddin Boroujerdi, chairman of the Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee on Monday.

Boroujerdi also welcomed Japan's willingness
to build nuclear reactors for Iran, saying, "The Islamic Republic of Iran is
ready to cooperate with Japan in building nuclear facilities under the
supervision of the International Atomic Energy Agency."
Boroujerdi said Iran and Japan have great potential for cooperation in different areas especially in industrial, economic, and energy fields.
The lawmaker said Tehran-Tokyo ties will serve mutual interests as well as regional peace and security.
The top lawmaker, who is also the chairman of Iran-Japan parliamentary friendship group, said the Iranian parliament backs close relations with Japan.
Boroujerdi invited his Japanese counterpart to visit Iran.
Shirota pointed to Iran's key regional status, saying, Iran's role in promoting peace and security in the region "cannot be ignored".
