Republic government has issued a warrant to arrest prominent human rights
lawyer, Mohammad Mostafai.
A knowledgeable source that wished to remain anonymous informed Radio Zamaneh: "Security forces went to arrest Mohammad Mostafai's office on Saturday but he wasn't there."
Zamaneh was informed that Mostafai's wife and brother-in-law, Feresteh and Farhad Halimi were arrested Saturday night.
In his weblog on Saturday, Mostafai writes that he was summoned for interrogation and questioned about his defense of juvenile offenders. He writes that the questions were mainly regarding the bank account he used to hold blood money to give to the families of victims.
Later in day, Mostafai goes on to write that he is once more recalled for interrogations and says that he will return to the branch on Sunday. In a short note, he also writes that he suspects that he will be arrested at this visit.
Mohammad Mostafai has taken on the cases of over forty juvenile offenders over the past several years and manged to save the lives of eighteen.
Mostafai is also the lawyer for Sakineh Mohammadi-Ashtiani, the Iranian woman who is sentenced to stoning after she was found guilty of adultery.
