Ten Iranian political prisoners
have reportedly been transferred to solitary confinement in section 350 of Evin
Prison for protesting against being mistreated by the guards.

Kaleme reformist website reports that "Abdollah Momeni, spokesman for the
student organization Danesh Amoukhtegan, Bahman Ahmadi Amouyi, journalist, and
Ahmad Karimi, political activists are amongst the prisoners that have been
transferred.
Kaleme reports that on Monday July 26, the day prisoners were receiving
visitors, the guards mistreated and insulted the prisoners and their families.
The prisoners spoke out and protested to the behaviour of the prison staff and
the guards responded by transferring them to solitary confinement.
In addition the prisoners were deprived of their telephone privileges according
to Kaleme.

Section 350 of Evin Prison is notorious for its
lack of standard facilities and overcrowding. Over 200 post-election detainees
are currently in this section of Evin.
Last month it was reported that the prisoners of this section are forced to do
labour. Officials claimed they are constructing additions to this section to
rectify the overcrowding issue.
Many prominent reformist who were arrested in the crackdown on the widespread
protests against the alleged fraud that gave Ahmadinejad the victory in the
presidential elections, are being held in the section 350 of Evin Prison.
