For the last eight years, women in Karaj, Iran,
have been working side-by-side with men at the fire department doing all they
can to save the lives of their fellow citizens. These women who are now
considered professionals in their field, act in a manner that hardly anyone pays
attention to their gender. Also, hijab hasn't restricted these women in actively
participating in their firefighting tasks and other rescue efforts. (read
