On Saturday, June 19, 2010, at 7:30 PM in the Central Park (Columbus Circle), the Solidarity Committee for Advancement of Democracy, SCADI-NY, a coalition of progressive and freedom loving individuals in the New York City, is planning a vigil to honor the life and struggle of all those who have lost their lives in their fights for justice and freedom for all in Iran. The cold-blooded murder of Neda by Islamic Government in Iran was viewed instantly around the world by millions of people one year ago.
Neda, the voice in Farsi, right away, became the symbol of love for justice. She did not die in silence, her eyes in last moments of her life, embodied millions of words: "see what they did to me?", "I am fearless, as you should be."
We will gather on Saturday evening and renew our solidarity with all victims of the Islamic Government in Iran.
We will let the friends and families of those who have been persecuted to know that we will stand with them at every step along the way. Our program will include poetry, live music, and speeches.
Cherishing the rights of individual citizens ensures the institutionalization of social rights.
