The managing director of national Iranian oil refining and distribution company stated that gasoline reserves in the first three months of the current Iranian calendar year (began March 21) are 15 percent higher compared to the same period the year before.
Deputy Oil Minister Alireza Zeighami said that the oil ministry has increased its gasoline reserves for self-sufficiency in case an urgent situation comes up, the Mehr News Agency reported.
In this regard, CEO of National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company Farid Ameri pointed out that gasoline supply in the country is at a good level.
He noted that strategic reserves of gasoline are 500 million liters more than the same period last year.
The official went on to say that with the present supply of gasoline and diesel in the country there is no need to worry about any shortage even in the long term.
Meanwhile, the deputy oil minister claimed that gasoline consumption had decreased an average 2 million liters a day compared to the same period a year before.
He said, "Since the start of the year (March 21) the average consumption has been 62 million liters a day."
