Faezeh Hashemi daughter of Ayatollah Hashemi
Rafsanjani says his father will not compromise over people's rights adding that
his father's demands are the very demands of the Green Movement.
Today in an interview with Rooz on line, speaking
of the role of his father in the post-election events in Iran, she maintained:
"You could also consider him as one of the Greens."
Iranian political scene has been in turmoil since the June presidential election
when millions of demonstrators took to the streets to protest against what they
considered a rigged ballot that brought Mahmoud Ahmadinejad back for another
term at presidency.
The protests, which have continued over the past nine months and come to be
known as the Green Movement, have met with grave violence from security and
police forces causing tens of deaths and thousands of arrests.
Ayatollah Hashemi Rafsanjani, Chairmen of the Expediency Council and the
Assembly of Experts spoke in support of protesters last July at Tehran Friday
Mass Prayers announcing that release of all political prisoners, compensating
the victims of the government crackdown on protesters and allowing for a
politically open atmosphere for the opposition, as steps toward resolving the
crisis.
Faezeh Hashemi maintained that her father stands by the solutions he had
suggested in July. The political activist added that her father has not come
back to the Friday Mass podium since then because he is concerned that people
might get hurt.

in Tehran - December 12, 2009
In July, after Ayatollah Hashemi Rafsanjani's
speech in Tehran Mass Prayers, security forces attacked worshipers and
protesters arresting scores of people.
Faezeh Hashemi claimed extremists are trying to put the Chairman of the Assembly
of Experts aside in order to achieve their goals.
She added that his father is standing by people's rights in his own way because
he has "foresight and knows what is expedient for the current situation of the
society."
She went on to say that "in the current situation any compromises without
consideration of the people's rights and the damages they have suffered is
questionable."
