Hashemi Rafsanjani insisted on Wednesday that differences that have surfaced in the country since the presidential election cannot be settled without observing the guidelines set by the Supreme Leader and the support of all people and different groups.
Rafsanjani made the remarks in a meeting with the Friday prayer leaders of Tehran mosques.
"Without a role playing by him and also support by all people and local groups one cannot be hopeful of resolving problems," Rafsanjani said in confirmation to remarks by a cleric who said solutions to the current tension in the society is to abide by the decrees issued by the Leader.
Rafsanjani added the threat is that today a group of people who claim support for Islam, the revolution, and the system are "making plots against the Islamic Republic."
Rafsanjani, who is both the chairman of the Expediency Council and the Assembly of Experts, said, "Unity cannot be gained just by words."
He said the victory of Islamic Revolution came true with the support of people.
Rafsanjani also said, "If we do not convince the youth we are doomed to fail.
He added questions by the youth must be "answered reasonably and logically."
