Uzbekistan's Bunyodkor football team coached by Luiz Felipe Scolari was overpowered 3-0 by Iran's Zob Ahan in Group B of the Asian Champions League.
Mohammed Hosseini gave the Zob Ahan the lead in the 36th minute at Foolad Shahr Stadium south of Tehran before Mohammad Ghazi scored from a 30-meter strike in the 52nd. Mohammad Khalatbari sealed the win 10 minutes from fulltime.
Former Brazil international Denilson had a chance to score for Bunyodkor in the first half, but his shot was beaten away at the near post by Zob Ahan keeper Shahab Gordan.
With the victory on Wednesday, Zob Ahan leads Group B with seven points, one ahead of the more fancied Bunyodkor of Uzbekistan.
Saudi Arabia's Al-Ittihad has four points after a 2-0 win over Al-Wahda of the United Arab Emirates, which is yet to earn a point.
Zob Ahan's coach Mansour Ebrahimzadeh said he was delighted to get the better of Scolari, a World Cup-winning coach with Brazil and former manager of Premier League giant Chelsea.
"Scolari is a real big name in the coaching world. He's always been very professional and is now in charge of a professional team as well," Ebrahimzadeh said. "It's an honor for me and my players to beat him today."
Australia's Adelaide United beat Sanfrecce Hiroshima of Japan 3-2 to remain unbeaten and lead Group H from the defending champion Pohang Steelers of South Korea.
Travis Dodd gave Adelaide the lead at Hindmarsh Stadium in the 12th minute and Sanfrecce was reduced to 10 men 20 minutes later when defender Ilian Stoyanov was shown a red card for a professional foul when he brought down Matthew Leckie.
Sanfrecce took the lead with second-half goals by Kazuyuki Morisaki and Issei Takayanagi, before Robert Cornthwaite equalized with a header in the 77th minute and Cassio deflected in a free-kick for the winner three minutes later.
Adelaide lead the group with a perfect nine points, three ahead of Pohang which edged China's Shandong Luneng 1-0.
Noh Byung-joon scored the lone goal for Pohang from a free kick early in the first half after striker Alexandro was fouled on the edge of the area.
In other matches Wednesday, Qatari Club Al Sadd downed Iran's Mes Kerman 4-1 and Hosni Abd Rabbou scored from a free kick in stoppage time to give Al Ahli of the UAE a 1-1 draw with Al Hilala of Saudi Arabia in Group D.
In Group F, South Korea's Jeonbuk Motors beat Changchun Yatai of China 2-1, while Japan's Kashima Antlers trounced Indonesia Persipura Jayapura 5-0.
