Arrest of activists continue in Iran as Maziar
Khosravi, editor-in-chief of Ham-mihan website and Maryam Abbasinejad, student
activist, were arrested yesterday by Islamic Republic security forces.
Tehran University's legal deputy had formerly filed a complaint against Maziar Khosravi in connection with the publication of a report regarding the attack of Special Guards and plain clothes forces on university students.
In the morning of June 15, 2009, a group of plain clothes forces accompanied the Special Guards in an attack on the university dorm at Tehran University that according to a report from Tahkim-e Vahdat at least five people were killed.
Recently, Persian BBC broadcast a film of this attack which raised the condemnation of rights groups across the globe.
Jaras reports that following Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's surprise visit at Tehran University, which was met with student protests, an executive member of the students' Islamic Association, Maryam Abbasinejad was arrested.
In connection with Islamic Republic's recent
detainees, two activists, Navid Khanjani and Marjan Safari were released on
Navid Khanjani, a member of Human Rights Reporters Committee, is also of the Baha'I faith and has been banned from continuing his studies at the university.
Human rights activist, Marjan Safari was released today on a $150, 000 bail.
The two activists were arrested on March 1 and were kept in the Revolutionary Guards section of Evin Prison.
