Expediency Council Chairman Ayatollah Akbar
Hashemi Rafsanjani has said certain officials put obstacles in the way of the
Islamic Azad University's progress. Islamic Azad University is a private chain
of universities in Iran which was founded in 1982.

"Unfortunately it is observed that sometimes
certain officials not only don't support this university but rather put
obstacles in the way of the Islamic Azad University's progress," he said on
Wednesday during a
meeting with top students and faculty members of the Islamic Azad
University.
Rafsanjani called on the students and faculty members to be patient and draw on
the law to remove the obstacles.

Some pro-administration officials seek to
nationalize the Islamic Azad University, but the university's board of trustees
has not given in to pressures yet.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Rafsanjani said if a country uses its skilled and
educated workforce properly, it will not waste its resources.
