Iran's Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin
Mehmanparast said the country does not recognize parliamentary election in the
mountainous Nagorno-Karabakh territory.
He also rejected reports that Iran has sent an observer for the election, saying that, "nobody has taken part in Nagorno-Karabakh parliamentary poll as Iranian observer."
Parliamentary election was held in Nagorno-Karabakh on May 23, as voters elected their 5th parliament since the region broke away from Azerbaijan's control in early 1990.
But Azerbaijan condemned the elections as its Central Election Commission called the poll "new election farce."
More than 50 international observers reportedly took part in the Karabakh elections.
Karabakh, dominated by ethnic Armenians, broke away from Azerbaijan following a three-year war which claimed the lives of nearly 30,000.
A Russia-brokered cease-fire ended the bloodshed in 1994.
