According to a report by
Parleman News, at midnight
Thursday a group of more than 20 plainclothes militia who were armed with warm
and cold weapons illegally entered the office of Board of Trustees and Founders
of Islamic Azad University and office of the Center for Advanced Science and
Technology.

According to reports these plainclothes militia
by intimidation and threatening and even putting handcuffs on the security
personnel of these buildings, entered some of the office units of these
buildings, vandalized them and took some documents, computers and other objects
with them; still there is no accurate list of what exactly was confiscated in
last night's raid.
According to the statement by the Office of Board
of Trustees and Founders of Islamic Azad University, these attacks were in
continuation of the recent activities against the Islamic Azad University as
well as the illegal changes made to the rules and introducing new members to the
board of trustees [by Ahmadinejad administration] and also the illegal
gatherings by plainclothes militia in front of various offices of the university
in the past few days

Islamic Azad University is country's largest
private chain of universities which has branches all over the country and was
one of the projects initiated during Ayatollah Hashemi-Rafsanjani's presidency.
Until recently Mehdi Hashemi-Rafsanjani, son of Ayatollah Hashemi-Rafsanjani,
was the president of the university. Since Ahmadinejad came to power there have
been some tensions between the university and Ahmadinejad's administration as
his administration has tried to take control over this university.
