Mir Hossein Mousavi and Mehdi Karroubi during their meeting in June 2010
Iranian security forces failed in an attempt to
stop the two opposition leaders Mir Hossein Mousavi and Mehdi Karroubi from
meeting with each other.
Saham News reports that this morning Mehdi Karroubi intended to visit Mir Hossein Mousavi at his home but was faced with the resistance of the local security forces. The report goes on to add that Karroubi finally managed to overcome the resistance with the assistance of Mir Hossein Mousavi and to visit his peer at his home.
According to this report: "following the actions of the security forces and once Mir Hossein Mousavi was informed of the situation, in a revolutionary move, he got into his car, drove toward Mehdi Karroubi and his son and took the two into the residential complex."
The details of this meeting have not been published yet.
Last September the Islamic Republic authorities began stopping people from visiting the opposition leaders at their homes and offices in an attempt to isolate the opposition. Some visitors were even temporarily arrested and harassed in order to keep them from seeing the opposition leaders.
Families of two Iran-Iraq war veterans received a similar treatment when they wanted to visit Mousavi on the anniversary of the Iran-Iraq War.
Mir Hossein Mousavi has warned the establishment that the protest movement against the government is "deeply rooted and will not be stopped by such restrictions or even by the omission of an individual like himself."
