The festival, which was held from October 23 to 30, announced
the winners during a ceremony on Saturday.
Juliette Binoche won the Award for Best Actress for her role in "Certified Copy"
in a recent edition of Cannes, and Cohan's debut was a box office smash in his
home country of Argentina.
As the plot of "Certified Copy" says, "In Italy to promote his latest book, a
middle-aged English writer meets a young French woman and jets off to San
Gimignano with her."
"No Return" tells the story of a happily married man with a teenage daughter who
is tried and falsely convicted for causing the death of a young cyclist in a car
accident.
Kiarostami won the Golden Spike Award of the festival for his "Under the Olive
Tree", which is a joint project of Iran and France from 1994.
The Valladolid International Film Festival (SEMINCI) is one of the oldest film
festivals in Europe. It was inaugurated in March 1956 as an additional feature
of the Easter celebrations named the "Religious Film Week".
