GUANGZHOU, Nov. 23 - Iran's Under-23 football team missed a chance to qualify for the final game of the 2010 Asian Games after being beaten by Japan on Tuesday.
The four-time Asian Games champion lost to Japan 2-1 at the Yuexiu Stadium.
An early goal from Arash Afshin in the 6th minute put the
Iranian team in the lead but Kota Mizunuma cancelled out his goal in the 38th
Kensuke Nagai scored Japan's second goal in the 60th minute.
Elsewhere, the UAE defeated South Korea in another semifinal match. The final match will be played on Friday.
Iran's handball team advances to Asian Games final
Iran's handball team defeated Japan with just one second remaining and booked a place in the final match of the 2010 Asian Games.
Iran beat Japan 30-29 at the Huashi Gymnasium and qualified
for the final game.
The west Asian team will most likely face South Korea in the final game on Friday.
Moradi wins silver in Asian Games 1500m tournament
Iran's Sajjad Moradi claimed the silver medal of the Men's 1500m of Athletics at the 16th Asian Games. Moradi won the silver with a time of 3 minutes and 37.09 seconds.
Mohammed Othman H. Shaween of Saudi Arabia won the gold medal in 3 minutes and 36.49 seconds, and the bronze medal went to Ali Belal Mansoor from Bahrain who clocked 3 minutes and 39.35 seconds.
