Iran-Turkmenistan second phase of gas pipeline was inaugurated on Sunday in an official ceremony attended by presidents of the two countries.

The pipeline imports Turkmenistan's gas to Iran's at
northeastern city of Sarakhs and northern city of Sangbast, Mazandaran.
Iran also inaugurated second phase of a domestic gas pipeline stretching from north to northeast of the country.
Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki, Oil Minister
Massoud Mir-Kazemi and Iranian President's senior aide Mojtaba Samareh-Hashemi
have joined the ceremony as well.
Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov is in the the city of Sarakhs for inauguration of the project.
The route of Iran's north-northeast gas pipeline which spreads
1059 kilometers includes two major projects, the one starts from central region
of Parchin and terminates at north of Iran, (Sangbast region) and the second one
transfers Turkmenistan's gas to Iran.
The first phase of Iran-Turkmenistan gas pipeline which is 35km long was inaugurated last year.
The second phase of the project spreads 120 kilometers and is expected to pump 40 million cubic meters of Turkmenistan's natural gas to Iran daily.
