A senior nuclear official announced on Saturday that Iran has produced over 35 kilograms of uranium enriched to the purity level of 20 percent. Every month, over three kilograms of uranium enriched to 20 percent is produced in the country, Ali Akbar Salehi, director of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, told ISNA news agency.

He added the Islamic Republic is also able to produce 5 kilograms of uranium
enriched to 20 percent per month, but it is not necessary at this time.
He also expressed hope that a domestically-produced fuel will be loaded into the core of the Tehran nuclear research reactor by late summer next year.
The reactor produces radioisotopes for cancer treatment.
He went on to say that the AEOI can produce radioisotope if the Tehran nuclear research reactor is provided with enough fuel.
Since Iran faced problems with supplying fuel to the reactor, radioisotope is produced every other week but there is nothing to be worried about, he explained.
However, he said Iran has bought some radioisotope from Russia, which will be shipped to the country in the next few weeks.
He went on to say that a workshop has been set up in Iran for teaching how to use radioactive materials in diagnosing heart diseases.
This is the first time such a workshop has been held in Iran, he said, adding the current one is being run in cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency.
