Iran's foreign ministry maintained that US restrictions set against foreign travel and assets of eight Iranian officials are "interference in Iran's internal affairs."

8 Iranian officials sanctioned for human rights abuses

Iranian media reports that Ramin Mehmanparast, spokesman for Iran's foreign ministry said: "This action is in line with the 30 year history of this country interfering in Iran's internal matters and proves that America supports illegal acts and unrest inside our country and is also inciting and provoking them."

He added that this action of the US government is aimed at "influencing Iran's internal atmosphere and creating divisions between officials and the people" as well as "diverting the minds of people all over the world as well as the people of America from Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's question regarding the September 11 events."

At his speech at the UN General Assembly, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad posed the possibility that the US government was involved in the September 11 attacks.

Mehmanparast stressed that "this US action reveals that they have reached the end of their line in their support for the sedition" and he insisted that the US is in violation of international laws.

He claimed that the Islamic Republic will pursue this matter through the United Nations and other international bodies.

Two days ago, the US blacklisted eight Iranian officials for their involvement in violation of human rights and oppression of people's protests after the 2009 presidential election of Iran.

Ramin Mehmanparast stated that such actions are "wrong and ineffective methods" that only lead to greater complications in the relations of the two countries.
