Reports say one of three U.S. hikers detained in Iran for more than a year is expected to be freed on September 11. The Iranian Culture Ministry told reporters by text message to come to the same hotel where the Americans' parents were allowed to meet them recently to witness the release.
Ali Reza Shiravi, the head of the foreign media office at the
ministry, confirmed that he had sent the message summoning reporters to the
Iran is currently holding three U.S. hikers in custody after they allegedly strayed into the country from across the border with Iraq more than a year ago.
There was no official statement from the Iranian Foreign Ministry on the reports.
