AMMAN, Jordan, Sept. 28 (Mehr News Agency) -- Iran tied with Oman and advanced to the West
Asian Football Federation (WAFF) Championship semi-finals. Iran, who defeated
Bahrain in its opening match in Group A, drew 2-2 against Oman on Tuesday.
Milad Meidavoudi gave Iran the lead 16 minutes into the match, but Osama Hadid equalized the match in the 40th minute. Yaqoob Abdolkarim scored Oman's second goal in the first half injury time.
One minute into the second half Mohammad Nouri from Iran was sent off by the referee. Andranik Teymourian leveled the match with a long-range shot in the 53rd minute.
Iran advanced to the semi-finals stage as the first team and Bahrain was the second.
Iran has won the title in 2000, 2004, 2007 and 2008.

Afshin Ghotbi's team is preparing for the AFC Asian Cup which
which will be held in Doha, Qatar in January 2011. Iran has been drawn along
with Iraq, North Korea and the UAE in the event.
The tournament will end on October 3.
