In a statement issued on Thursday, the Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee said that Saudi Arabia's military intervention in Bahrain is playing with fire.
"Saudi Arabia knows better than any other country that playing with fire in the sensitive Persian Gulf region is not in their interests," the statement read.
"Instead of pursuing the United States' policies in the region, Saudi Arabia had better think about its own interests as well as the interests of the Islamic world, and must take steps to withdraw its troops from Bahrain in order to help promote peace and security in the region and must avoid worsening the crisis," it added.
The statement also said, "Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates have complicated the issue by sending troops to Bahrain. This measure is like the occupation of Kuwait by (former Iraqi dictator) Saddam (Hussein), but with the difference that the occupation (of Bahrain) is done with the agreement of the United States."
It added that occupation is occupation and the deployment of foreign troops in Bahrain will only strengthen the resolve of the oppressed people of this country to stand against the occupiers.
Elsewhere in the statement, the lawmakers noted that the U.S., a so-called advocate of human rights, is seeking its own interests in the recent uprisings roiling the Arab world.
The MPs also condemned the silence of the U.S. in the face of the brutal massacre of the Libyan civilians by the forces loyal to Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi.
"Only when they (the U.S.) felt that the people would take over the reins and a popular government would come to power and end their dominance over the great oil reserves in Libya, they hastily issued a resolution at the UN Security Council and launched military action (in Libya) with the aim of extending their dominance over the energy resources in another Muslim country in the world," they stated.
The Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee also called on the Arab dictators to allow their people to shape their own destiny.
