Azad University of Qazvin's solar car named "Havyn " (sunshine) was unveiled today at on the sidelines of the sixth edition of the RoboCup IranOpen 2011 competitions in Tehran.
The solar car "Havyn" which seats one passenger is 5 meters long, 2 meters wide and 96 centimeters tall. It can travel up to 130 km/hr. It took 1.5 years for the team at the Research Center of Qazvin University to build the car.
The car is made of carbon fiber and fiberglass mold and weighs 160 kg. It has two wheels in the front and at the back.
The silicon solar panels, measuring 6 square meters, are installed on top of the car, and lithium-ion batteries are used to store the charge. Havyn has an "Inwheel" engine with 10 horsepower and "CanBus" communication system.
About RoboCup IranOpen 2011: Qazvin Azad University has been approved by RoboCup Federation and Iranian RoboCup National Committee to organize RoboCup IranOpen 2011 competitions and symposium. This event will be held in Tehran from 5 - 9 April 2011.
