Iran and Turkey opened a new border crossing point on Saturday. Checkpoint Kapikoy will operate on the border between the Iranian province of Western Azerbaijan and the Turkish province of Van.

Foreign Ministers of Iran, Turkey and Azerbaijan met in Iranian northwestern city of Orumieh on Saturday as they called for boosting economic cooperation.
"Our priority is development of ties with neighboring countries," said Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi in the meeting.
Salehi also added, "relations between Iran, Turkey, Azerbaijan and Iraq should be so firmly-based that no politician can damage it."
He continued Iran is trying to lift visa requirements for travelers to the Republic of Azerbaijan as it did concerning Iraq and Turkey.
Salehi went on to say that Iran-Turkey trade volume reaches over 10 billion dollars which could be raised to 30 billion dollars.
He expressed hope the new border gate could help boost of the volume of trade cooperation with Turkey.
