Jaras reports that Ali Najafi, Mohammad Khani and Saeed Jahanara, members of Hamadan's teachers' union, have been summoned to court. According to the report, these activists were also arrested last year on charges of "propaganda against the regime."
Following the controversial election of 2009 and the disputed re-election of Mahmoud Ahmedinejad, the authorities have persistently cracked down on social activists and blocked any sort of attempt to create public gatherings and statements.
Ali Akbar Baghani, Mahmoud Beheshti, Rasoul Bedaghi, Alireza Hashemi and Abdollah Momeni are some of the teachers currently behind bars and serving harsh prison terms for the charge of endangering national security or propagating against the regime.
Last year, Farzad Kamangar, a teacher and union member in the southwest province of Kurdistan, was hanged by the Islamic Republic for the charge of "enmity against God."
