About our Volunteer Runners

Yasmina Borhani is currently studying for a PhD in Biomedical Engineering at Oxford University.
"Having ran my first half marathon last summer, I am determined to beat my previous time for PKCF. Please give generously to this inspiring charity and help fuel our motivation."

Nasim Elahi is studying for a PhD in Process Systems Modelling at Imperial College, London.
"Two months ago I had never run further than 5K. These days I'm doing my best not to let you down and finish this run gracefully. The three of us, we are so excited to be doing as much as we can for this great cause, so please be generous."

Tamila Jazayeri graduated from Central Saint Martins with a BA in Spatial Design and is currently working as a Visual Merchandiser Assistant at Habitat.
"I have always been in and out of sports, but this time my athletic look has caused me a little more trouble: I was persuaded by my wonderful friends to take part in the Richmond Half Marathon. I do sometimes have regrets after a hard day of training, but after all the experience is amazing and it's for the perfect cause."

Months of training go into the preparation for a half-marathon, especially for first-time runners like ourselves. With each training session, we push ourselves to run faster and farther, reaching speeds and distances we would not have deemed possible from the onset. At times however, the mind and body shy away from the challenges of training - it is your donations to the Popli Khalatbari Charitable Foundation that ultimately help uphold our commitment and motivation to completing the run.

Our decision to run for PKCF arose from the unique nature of the charity - it supports a wide range of causes across the globe, the common denominator between them being their need for financial assistance and the opportunity to make changes for the better. By running the course of 21k, we hope to raise £10,000 for the charitable activities of the foundation. Specifically, the money raised will be spent towards the welfare and education of the children at "Society for the Protection of Street & Working Children" in Karaj.

The Popli Khalatbari Charitable Foundation was founded in 1998. The aim of the foundation is to support charitable purposes worldwide, in particular, the education and welfare of children and young persons who by reason of disablement, social and economic circumstances, have need of such provisions. Over the past twelve years, we have achieved these goals through a combination of planning and implementation our own projects and through the funding of programmes run by other well-researched and reputable organizations around the world.

The Foundation's achievements would not have been possible without the grace and generosity of the many individuals and corporations who have entrusted us with their charitable givings. The stories on this website are a testament to their goodwill.
