The murder of Fatemeh Bagherinejadianfard, the daughter of a former reformist MP, has caused a stir in Iranian Parliament, with MPs calling for an immediate inquest.

The daughter of a former Kazeroon MP was kidnapped in Tehran last week, and 24 hours later her body was found near Shahr-e Rey, the Aftab news website reports.

One hundred MPs have signed a petition to urge immediate action in finding her kidnappers and murderers.

In the controversial 2009 presidential elections, Mohammadbagher Bagherinajadianfard supported Mir Hossein Mousavi, the opposition leader who is now under house arrest. Fatemeh Bagherinejadianfard also participated in the street demonstrations sparked by allegations of fraud in the re-election of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

The former MP told a local Kazeroon website that his daughter left home for a walk at 7AM on Thursday July 28 and was missing for 24 hours. The 28-year-old woman's body was discovered around the same time the next day near Shahr-e Rey.

Aftab News website reports that the cause of her death has not yet been determined.

Jaras opposition website reports that a number of former MPs have written to the Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Khamenei; President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad; Ayatollah Larijani, the head of the judiciary; and Ali Larijani, the head of Parliament, expressing concern over the murder of Fatemeh Bagherinejadianfard.

In their letter they describe the murder as an alarm bell alerting authorities "to immediately take action against the sharp rise in crime and the lack of safety in our dear country."
