Iran's youth volleyball team has lost to the United States in the second round of the 2011 FIVB Men's Junior World Championship in Brazil.
The Iranian junior volleyball players lost their first match of the second round against the United States on Friday at Maracanazinho Gymnasium in Rio de Janeiro.
Iran won the first set of the match 25-22 but could not keep the lead, and lost three straight sets to the US squad 25-20, 25-15, and 25-17.
The US team clinched the victory mostly due to their remarkable blocking power as they gained 22 points from blocks while Iran scored only 10 points from blocks.
"We played a good first set, but, after that, the team stopped playing and... I do not know what happened," Iranian captain Farhad Salafzoun said after the match.
The result put the US in second place on the table in Pool E with three points, below Russia which did not lose sets against fourth-placed Spain. Iran is now third on the table with no points and two games to go against Russia and Spain.
Iran will play Russia on Saturday and Spain on Sunday.
