Iran's youth volleyball team has defeated Spain in the second round in the 2011 FIVB Men's Junior World Championship in Brazil.
Iran achieved its first win of the round to stand in the third place of the Pool E of the tournament at Maracanazinho Gymnasium in Rio de Janeiro on Sunday.
The Iranian squad downed Spain in three straight sets (26-24, 25-20, 25-23) to finish the round with three points, ahead of Spain with a single point.
Iran lost its two previous matches against Russia and the United States.
In the next round of the competition, Iran will play against India on Tuesday, and Spain is scheduled to take on Brazil later in the day for the fifth to eighth places of the event.
Russia will play against Serbia, and Argentina will clash with the United States for the first four places of the championship.
