Tehran, August 13, 2011: Several Iranian films and documentaries have found ways into the 35th edition of the Montreal World Film Festival that runs from August 18 to 28.
"Here without Me" by Bahram Tavakkoli is an entry in the competition section of the festival, the international distributor of the film, the Iranian Visual Media Institute, announced on Friday.
"Here without Me", currently on screen in Iranian theaters, is a contemporary Iranian adaptation of Tennessee Williams+ "Glass Menagerie" and will be competing with 20 other films at the festival.
Starring Negar Javaherian,Fatemeh Motamed-Arya, and Saber Abar, the movie features the story of a single mother who works hard to find a match for her painfully shy and lame-legged daughter, while her son dreams mostly of the cinema and escaping the trap of family obligations.
The other two in the non-competition section are "A Cube of Sugar" by Reza Mirkarimi and "Facing Mirrors" by Negar Azarbaijani, MNA reported.
In "A Cube of Sugar", Four sisters come home to help with preparations for their youngest sister+s engagement party and not everything goes as planned.
"Facing Mirrors" narrates the story of a transgender girl who encounters a traditional young woman while fleeing Iran in order to have surgery in a foreign country.
