Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said the country hails Russian initiative for "step-by-step approach."

"Tehran and Moscow can cooperate in different
fields including economic, political, cultural and particularly transport,
energy, joint investment and also important regional issues. All these
potentials can be activated in line with benefit of the two nations and other
nations," Ahmadinejad said in a meeting with Russia's National Security Council
Secretary Nikolai Patrushev Tuesday evening in Tehran.
The president noted, "expansion of bilateral ties is in need of positive measures in practice and launching Bushehr nuclear power plant can be considered as an effective and positive step."
He moved to Iran's nuclear plan and said, "Islamic Republic of Iran hails the Russian initiative for step-by- step approach and is ready to cooperate."
Patrushev on his part emphasized the use of all potentials and opportunities in both countries and continued, "Iran-Russia relations have increased considerably following the meeting of the presidents of the two countries in Kazakhstan."
He added, "Russia is willing to broaden its cooperation with Iran in different fields including economic, transport, communications and also nuclear issue."
Russian Secretary of National Security Council went on to say, "Russia is up to activate available potentials to increase bilateral and regional ties."
He noted, "Russia is ready to play its role in launching Bushehr nuclear power plant and improving mutual and regional relations."
