Iran Diplomats Leave Britain After Embassy Attack Row

Photos by Mehr News Agency

Iranian diplomats and embassy staff have arrived in Tehran from London after Britain ordered the closure of their embassy in the wake of an attack this week by demonstrators on the British Embassy in Tehran.

The British government has confirmed that all Iranian diplomats have left the country.

The diplomats were greeted at the arirport by the Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman. A group of Basijs had also gathered at the airport holding signs against Britain and praising the attack on the British embassy in Tehran.

British Foreign Secretary William Hague on November 30 ordered the diplomats to leave Britain within 48 hours, following the closure of Britain's embassy in Tehran, which was stormed and ransacked by protesters one day earlier.
