Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast called the US President Barack Obama's remarks on giving back the American spy drone "escape forward."

"Some press reports say that Mr. Obama has called for giving back the spy drone. He has seemingly forgotten that Iranian air space was violated and international rules were breached," Mehmanparast told reporters in his weekly briefing session on Tuesday.
"They make such remarks for escape forward instead of offering official apology and admitting their crime," Mehmanparast added.
"The U.S. should know that what it did regarding violation of our air space can put international peace and security in danger. The U.S. should take responsibility for the consequences of the measure," Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman added.
"The U.S. officials have openly launched an assault against our country and carried out espionage actions. We will pursue the issue seriously. They must be held accountable for the issue.
"Iran has received no demand from any country on use of the spy drone. These are some plans by the US military."
The U.S. President claimed on Monday it has delivered a formal request to Iran for the return of the U.S. spy drone captured by Iranian armed forces.
Iran brought down the US drone RQ-170 Sentinel, earlier this month.'
Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi said Tuesday the US spy drone is the Islamic Republic of Iran's property.
"The US spy drone is the Islamic Republic of Iran's possession and our country will decide what to do in this regard," he said.
Also regarding sanctions against Iran, he said, "Technical sanctions against Iran aim to prevent the country from reaching peak of science and technology and sanctions have more targeted defense section."
He continued Iranian nation has managed to have great achievements in all defense fields.
Also regarding the US spy drone, he said, "The drone weighs 3500-3600 kg with the main function of surveillance. These drones are very advanced in terms of technology and are ranked as the highest scientific achievements of the US."
Vahidi called assault of the U.S. drone against Iran an instance of unwise action by bullying enemies of Iranian nation and said, "The US in a bullying way has called for return of the drone instead of offering apology to the Iranian and Afghan nations for misusing their lands. But the Islamic Republic of Iran defends its interests strongly and logically."
