Photos by Aboutaleb Nadri, Mehr News Agency

The Gomishan wetland is located by the Caspian Sea in Iran's northern province of Golestan. Every winter Gomishan is host to thousands of migratory birds.

Due to its sparse varieties of hydro-plants, Gomishan is an important and valuable genetic resource for protecting birds, water species and aqueous plants. This wetland is situated 60 km to the northwest of the city of Gorgan.

Over 20 kinds of fish and 100 kinds of bird species can be found in Gomishan which is considered to be one of the interesting manifestations of this wetland. This beautiful wetland is a recreational and educational area which attracts many visitors in all seasons.
