Iran unveiled new satellites on Monday, another step in its space technology achievements which coincided with celebrations marking the anniversary of the 1979 Islamic Revolution.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad inaugurated space version of "Navide Elm-o-Sanaat" (promise of science and industry) satellite on Monday.

The satellite which weighs 50 kg and is to be launched soon is built completely domestically.

The engineering model of the satellite built last year by Iranian engineers has been already unveiled by Ahmadinejad.

The satellite holds the capability of taking images and distinguishing different places from 400 meters away and is to be placed 250-375 km away earth orbit.

Also Ahmadinejad unveiled indigenous "Fajr" (dawn), "Rasad" (Observation) and "Zafar" (victory) satellites on Monday.

Iran in February 2009 sent into space the Safir-2 rocket carrying its first home-built test satellite, called Omid (Hope).

Twelve months later, it launched a capsule carrying live turtles, rats and worms aboard a Kavoshgar-3 rocket which was Iran's first experiment to send living creatures into space.
