In a statement on Kaleme website the Advar-e Takkim-e Vahdat
urges the government to confirm its support for the recent popular uprisings in
the Arab countries by allowing the Bahman 25 rally to be carried out calmly and
MirHosein Mousavi and Mehdi Karroubi, Iran's opposition leaders have called on their supporters to join a march on Monday in support of the recent revolts in Egypt and Tunisia and requested a permit from the ministry of interior to carry out the demonstration peacefully.
The reformist party, Islamic Iran Participation Front as well
as several other groups such as the Society of Seminarians and Researchers of
Qom, the Grieving Mothers, representing the families of the victims of state
violence in the post election protests along with several other student
organizations have announced their support of the rally on Monday.
Today deputy interior minister, Mehdi Alikhani Sadr announced that his ministry will not issue a permit for the February 14 march.
He claimed that "these elements are aware of the illegality of their request and know that they will not receive a permit to create disturbances."
On the other hand, a spokesman for Mehdi Karroubi's National Trust Party, announced that according to the Article 27 of the constitution a peaceful march does not require a permit.
