Iran wrestling team claimed the title of the 2011 Greco-Roman World Cup held in Minsk, Belarus. The Persians defeated the world and Olympic champion Russia 4-3 in the final game of the event and won the championship for the second year in a row.
Last year in Yerevan, Armenia, Mohammad Bana's team won the championship for the first time.
Iran had overpowered South Korea 6-1, Cuba 7-0, Turkey 6-1 and Belarus 6-1 to book a place in the final game.
"We took part in the competitions with a combination of both young and experienced wrestlers. Although Iran won the title last year in Armenia, I prefer this championship because we beat the powerhouse Russia in the final game," Bana said.
"This championship belongs to all Iranians who have always supported us and I present it to them," Iran coach added.
