Iran non-oil exports in 9 months surpass $19B

Iran exported $19.18 billion of non-oil goods (excluding gas condensates) in the first nine months of current Iranian calendar year (ended December 21, 2010), the Director of Trade Promotion Organization of Iran Hamid Safdel said.

It was expected the value of exported goods for the mentioned period would be $14.18, the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting reported.

Iran exported 84 percent of its non-oil goods to Asian countries during the mentioned period. Europe's imports also accounted for 12 percent, while Africa imported 2 percent.

In the mentioned time span $22.4 billion of non-oil products (including gas condensates) were also exported from Iran showing a 22 percent increase compared to the same period last year.

The exported items in this period weighed 50 million tons which is 26 percent more than last year.

Imports into the country in this time reached $47 billion which is also 26 percent higher in comparison to the year before.

The imported goods weighed 33 million tons which is 3 percent more than last year.

Liquid propane was the most sought item of which $1 billion was exported.

China had the largest share of the imports at 18 percent. Iraq imported 17 percent and UAE 13 percent.

Gold was the main item imported into the country covering 10 percent of the imports.

The UAE exported 32 percent of the goods imported in Iran and was the main exporter to the Islamic Republic.

China and Germany stood respectively in second and third place as exporters to Iran with a share of 8.5 and 7 percent.

Iran exported 21.3 billion dollars worth of non-oil goods (excluding gas condensates) in the previous Iranian calendar year.
