Announcing The Iranian American Bar Association's Fellowship

The Iranian American Bar Association in collaboration with the Asian Law Caucus are seeking a Policy & Education Fellow for the duration of one year, with possibility of extension. The Fellow will be housed in the National Security & Civil Rights Program of the Asian Law Caucus in San Francisco, CA and will be responsible for addressing the racism and stereotyping borne by "post 9/11 impacted communities," including the Iranian-American community, through policy, communication, public education, and law.


  • Engage in public policy advocacy to advance civil rights for communities impacted by overbroad or invasive national security policies and the growing climate of anti-immigrant policies.
  • Community education regarding post 9/11 impacted communities.
  • Coordinate activities with our community partners, to the end of promoting and protecting civil rights of 9/11 impacted communities.
  • Reports to Staff Attorney, National Security & Civil Rights.
  • B.A./B.S. and J.D. degrees, California Bar Admission highly preferred.
  • Experience in legal services and/or policy work furthering civil rights and immigrants rights.
  • Substantive law experience in a relevant area such as national security, civil rights, and constitutional law.
  • Highly motivated and self-starting.
  • Excellent research, analytical, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work with a highly diverse group of mission-driven lawyers and staff with a range of substantive law knowledge, experience, and expertise.
  • Demonstrated leadership and ability to work independently and in collaboration with other attorneys, community advocates, and community-based organizations.
  • Demonstrated commitment to advancing the rights of 9/11 impacted communities.

Compensation and Benefits

This position is financially co-supported by the Asian Law Caucus and the Iranian American Bar Association with the assist of the PARSA Community Foundation. Salary range will be between $48,000 and $52,000, depending on experience, and is based on principles of internal equity. A full benefits package is included.
