Australia imported some 200 million dollars worth of goods from Iran in 2010, showing around 270 percent rise compared to 2009, the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Australia said in its new biannually fact sheet of trade statistics.
According to the report, liquefied propane & butane, floor coverings, fruits, nuts and tobacco were the major imported goods from Iran in 2010.
Iran stood the 53rd among the main exporters to Australia in 2010, the report said. Iran's exports to Australia have increased remarkably in recent years despite the global economic sanctions against Iran.
Australia's exports to Iran - mainly wheat, medicine, and meat - reached 182 million dollars in 2010, while the two countries' bilateral trade hit 382 million dollars in the same year.
Iran was the 50th major trading partner of Australia in 2010, the report added.
