Photos: Iranian Officials' Display Of Unity In Public

Animosities run deep between the top officials, even though they smile for the camera when they appear in public together to display unity. This was once again evident during the annual event held at ayatollah Khomeini's mausoleum in Tehran to mark the death of the founder of the Islamic Republic.

Hassan Khomeini, grandson of Ayatollah Khomeini and supporter of the green opposition movement, speaks at the event. Last year the Basij militia interrupted Khemini's speech and chanted slogans against him.

A large crowd of people gathered at Khomeini's mausoleum on Saturday to mark the 22nd anniversary death of Khomeini.

Supreme Leader Khamenei waves to the crowd with Hassan Khomeini in the background.

Hassan Khomeini gets up in respect as Hashemi Rafsanjani arrives.

Upon arrival of Hashemi Rafsanjani, everyone is getting up in respect except for Mahmoud Ahmadinejad who is sitting tight! Rafsanjani has fallen out of favor with the regime due to his support for the green opposition movement. Ali Larijani, Speaker of Parliament who is locked in a bitter power struggle with Ahmadinejad, is standing at the far right.

Hashemi Rafsanjani exchanges pleasantries with Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Judiciary Chief, Sadeq Larijani (brother of Ali Larijani), who is tangled in legal disputes with Ahmadinejad and his administration, is sitting between them.

Intelligence Minister Heydar Moslehi (center). Moslehi was recently fired by Ahmadinejad. Bit he was immediately reinstated by ayatollah Khamenei in a rebuke to Ahmadinejad. This resulted in a wide display of hostility among the top officials of the regime when Ahmadinejad and his Chief of Staff came under harsh attacks from Khamenei's close allies including the Revolutionary Guards.

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad seems to be enjoying his conversation with Hassan Khomeini, grandson of ayatollah Khomeini and a supporter of the green opposition.
