JAKARTA, Indonesia, June 10 (Mehr News Agency) -- Iran's Greco-Roman wrestling team sealed the championship title in the 2011 Junior Asian Championship on Friday.
The Iranian wrestlers claimed six gold medals and a silver in the two-day event which was held in Jakarta, Indonesia.
Iran finished at first place for the eighth time in the past nine years with 75 points followed by Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan respectively.
"We are here to gear up for the World Championship which will be held in Bucharest, Romania from July 23 to 30. The Iranian wrestlers deserved to win title because they defeated the strong rivals," Iran coach Nasser Nourbakhsh said.
Saman Abdevali in the 55kg category, Mohammad Nourbakhsh in the 60kg, Mehdi Zeidvand in the 66kg, Kamal Mohammad Alizadeh in the 74kg, Majid Aliyari in the 84kg, Mehrdad Bayendor in the100kg won gold medals and Yashar Isazadeh claimed silver in the 120kg.
The free-style competitions will begin from Saturday.
