About Dang Show: Reza shaya Shoja Noori (piano) , Omid Nemati (vocals, percussion), Darius Azar (upright bass), Leon Darzibashian (drums) and Taha parsa Shoja Nouri ( vocals ,saxophone ) create their eclectic and avant- guard style of music from an inventive fusion of classical Persian poetry and Iranian folklore music with jazz instruments and percussion.
Dang Show"s music is deeply rooted in Iranian philosophies and traditions, and expresses emotions that rise up from this world on traditionally Western instruments. The band's novel approach to music has garnered the attention of and received praise from many well-known figures in Iranian music, theater and cinema such as renowned painter and author Aydin Aghdashloo and award winning film director Abbas Kiarostami. Aghdashloo lends his legendary voice to recite Rumi poems, featured on one of the tracks of Dang Show's album "Shiraz, 40 Years Old" published by Bamahang Productions.
The name Dang Show from a Rumi poem translates to
"give up your mind":
Oh, Soul! Be a drunkard here
Oh, Mind! Be Dang* here
*In this poem the word Dang implies a sweet and delectable madness.
