Iran intends to dispatch a delegation of businessmen to Kansas City, the US for the 16th Futurallia meeting.
The Head of the World Trade Center (WTC) of Iran Mohammad Reza Sabzalipour speaking in a press conference on Wednesday said, "the delegation which includes 16 economic activists is going to take part in the meeting scheduled for May 19-21."
"Futurallia meeting is sponsored by the World Trade Organization (WTO)," he said adding Iran had been invited sometime ago. The meeting has nothing to do with the US and the country only hosts the financial conference.
He said the invitation of Iran came despite sanctions against the country.
Trade boards from 30 countries are expected to take part in the three-day economic forum and are to hold talks face-to-face.
The Iranian participant economic delegates hold three-month visa and can stay in the US despite the fact that the meeting is scheduled only for three days, he added.
The invited Iranian private group mainly works on chemicals, foodstuff, chocolate and monetary domains.
Sabzalipour called the invitation a good measure to lift sanctions and added Iran's World Trade Center (WTC) is different from the WTO in that the latter one gives trade services whereas the first one is a center for making policy.
WTC headquarter is located in New York and that of the WTO is in Geneva. WTC has 350 centers in 100 countries now.
