New Iranian Ambassador to Kuwait Rouhollah Qahremani Chabok has arrived in the sheikhdom and will officially start his diplomatic mission on Tuesday, Iran's charge d'affaires to Kuwait announced on Monday.
Mohammad Shahabi said that the new ambassador also plans to meet with a number of Kuwaiti officials.
The Iranian diplomat added that the Kuwaiti ambassador will also return to Tehran during the current week.
It was over a year that Iran had no ambassador in Kuwait.
The appointment of the new Iranian ambassador to Kuwait came on the heel of Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi's visit to Kuwait.
On May 18, during a press conference in Kuwait which was held after foreign minister's meetings with Kuwaiti officials, Salehi announced that Iran and Kuwait have agreed to exchange ambassadors again.
"It was decided that the ambassadors of the two countries will return to their posts as soon as possible," Salehi stated.
On April 2, Kuwait expelled three Iranian diplomats, alleging that they had links to a spy network, a claim Iran totally denied.
On April 10, Iran expelled a number of Kuwaiti diplomats in a tit-for-tat move.
