Photos: The tent people of Kerman live in the past century!

These photos show people living in shabby tents (called kapar) in the southern parts of the city of Kerman in Iran. These people who live in very primitive conditions are deprived of proper housing, water, sanitation, health care, .... In other words, the 21st century hasn't arrived in this area yet!

Kerman is one of the 30 provinces of Iran. It is in the south-east of the country. Its center is Kerman. The province of Kerman is the second largest province in Iran, 180,836 km sqr with a population of about 2 million.
