Photos: Deprived students of Chameh Ban village

Photos by Majid Nikjou, Mehr News Agency

Chameh Ban is a beautiful village located close to the city of Amol in Iran's Caspian region. There are many vacation and luxury houses in the village. And then there is the dilapidated school building! (read report in Persian)

The school building, constructed with mud and wood, is about 30 to 40 years old, but it looks more like 50. The building is in dire need of repair or better yet rebuilding.

Meanwhile, there are 6 students, boys and girls, who attend the school village hoping to make a better future for themselves and be productive members of the society. And they do this without even a proper heating system. The students have been waiting for a heater to arrive for few months now. And this in a country which seats on top of world's biggest oil and gas reserves!
