Town of Seh Qaleh is located about 200 kilometers away from city of Birjand and 24 kilometers from Sarayan in Iran's South Khorasan province. The nearby Seh Qaleh desert with its beautiful scenery is a great place for the nature enthusiasts to hike and camp.
Iran's geography consists of a plateau surrounded by mountains and divided into drainage basins. Dasht-e Lut is one of the largest of these desert basins, 480 kilometers long and 320 kilometers wide (about 51,800 square kilometers in area), and is considered to be one of the driest places on Earth.
The other one is Dasht-e Kavir, also known as Kavir-e Namak or Great Salt Desert, a large desert lying in the middle of the Iranian plateau. It is about 800 kilometers long and 320 kilometers wide with (area of about 77,600 square kilometers), making it the Earth's 23rd largest desert.
