The UK says it plans to extradite former Iranian Ambassador to Jordan Nasrollah Tajik to the United States over his alleged involvement in nuclear deals, Press TV reports.

Last week, the British Interior Ministry confirmed plans to hand over Tajik to the US as soon as possible.

The decision comes despite the former Iranian envoy saying that he is too ill to travel and that he will face a show trial in the United States.

Tajik, who has been under house arrest in Britain since 2006, told Press TV that, "It was a disappointing decision after forty months."

A court also recently rejected Tajik's application to be relieved of his bail conditions, under which he has to regularly report to the police, stay indoors for 10 hours a day and wear an electronic tag.

Tajik has described his condition as "gradual death". He believes that British courts have denied him a fair trial despite new evidence coming to light in Wikileaks revelations.

Despite the decision of the British Home Office to extradite him, Tajik says he will apply to take his case to the High Court in London, and, if necessary, the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg.

Tajik was accused of involvement in nuclear deals in violation of US sanctions on the Islamic Republic. The US is pressuring British officials for his extradition.

Iran has repeatedly rejected allegations against Tajik and has called for his urgent release.
